How can you carry a lightweight backpack comfortably?
[To wear a backpack correctly, first your waist, then your shoulders, to avoid fatigue!]
Do your shoulders start to ache when you're only halfway through carrying it? You might be wearing it wrong!
The mechanics of a professional mountaineering backpack dictate that 70-80% of the weight should fall on the hip bones, not the shoulders!
✅ Correct order of wearing:
1️⃣ First, fasten the belt: Align it with the upper edge of the iliac crest and fasten it tightly to the base.
2️⃣ Adjust the shoulder straps again: Pull gently until they fit your back snugly, but don't press on your shoulders.
3️⃣ Fine-tune the angle: Make the backpack fit better and stay still.
4️⃣ Finally, fasten the chest clasp: Adjust it to a height that does not obstruct breathing.
⚠️ Pulling the shoulder straps first = locking the weight onto your shoulders, the waist belt is just loosely fastened, and you'll start to question your life choices after a while!
Especially lightweight backpacks (like HMG), without heavy frames, require more precise wearing techniques!
